Last Christmas, Sequim Middle School hosted a wish tree that would help students fulfill needs for the community and themselves.
Holly Brownfield, a sixth-grader, wished to end world hunger. Considering the enormity of the task and limited budget, Caity Karapostoles, Sequim Middle School all student body adviser, and student leaders focused on the idea to host a movie night and donation drive with proceeds going to the Sequim Food Bank.
Feb. 12, students showed "Kung Fu Panda" with an
admission price of $5 or 5 pounds of food.
The group received 2,200 pounds of food and $280 for the food bank.
Brownfield raised the most food for the donation, weighing in at 310.8 pounds.
"I just want to end world hunger," Brownfield said.
