Anti-Terrorism joint training exercise on Friday

Law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel from 24 federal, tribal, state and local agencies in Canada and the U.S. are participating in a special Anti-Terrorism Training Exercise on Friday, June 11.

Operation Green Seal II is being conducted in the air as well as on the land and waters of British Columbia and Western Washington.

The Operation is a follow up to Operation Green Seal I, conducted locally in 2009.

The complex training scenario is a robust test of communications and tactical response capabilities of those participating in the exercise.

Members of the public are advised that law enforcement and fire agencies are operating aircraft and marine vessels in the Strait of Juan De Fuca, the waters of the San Juan Islands and within the land boundaries of Clallam County.

The exercise will be conducted during the daylight hours providing that weather conditions permit safe operations.

Operation Green Seal II has involved hundreds of hours of planning and training over the past several months by hundreds of individuals from the various agencies involved.

Earlier this week, personnel participated in various planning and training drills in preparation for the exercise.
