Zaccardo elected to board
Jennifer Zaccardo was elected to the board of directors of First Federal.
Zaccardo is a certified public accountant and manages the Forks branch of Baker, Overby & Moore.
She has been with the firm since 1983. A native of Washington, she holds bachelor’s degrees in forestry and business administration from the University of Washington.
Nicholas joins Paragon Dermatology
Physician assistant Melissa Nicholas joined Paragon Dermatology, 558 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.
Nicholas relocated from the Houston, Texas, area, where she trained at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.
She will see established patients, perform cosmetic procedures and assist Dr. Agniezka Niemeyer with surgeries. Call 681-6900.
Carlsborg Chiropractic Center collects
Carlsborg Chiropractic and Carlsborg Massage are teaming up to collect items for the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society through March.
Bleach, Dawn dish soap, food, toys, large garbage bags, paper towels, non-clumping litter and postage stamps are needed.
Items can be dropped off at 863 Carlsborg Road, Suite C.
Office hours are 1-7 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, and 1-6 p.m. Friday. The office is closed on Thursdays.

Lawn care seminar
Chris Sexton-Smith presents “The Care & Feeding of Lawns” at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at McComb Gardens, 751 McComb Road, Sequim.
Subjects include water conservation, organic fertilizers and the maintenance of a healthy green lawn.
Sexton-Smith is an instructor of horticulture at Lake Washington Technical College, a certified professional horticulturist and a licensed pesticide applicator. He has a degree in ecology and is a proponent of an organic/non-chemical approach to gardening. The seminar is free. Call 681-2827.
Basics of berries class
Henery’s Garden Center hosts a free class on growing berries at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12.

Wine society hosts dinner
The Olympic Peninsula Enological Society hosts a wine dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Bella Italia, 118 E. First St., Port Angeles.
A four-course dinner is paired with five wines, featuring three top Malbecs, a red wine from Argentina. The Malbecs are available for purchase.

Training in system assessment offered
Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance presents a day-long course on the Pumping System Assessment Tool from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, in the Peninsula Room at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles. The PSAT is designed to help improve pumping system efficiency and measure potential savings opportunities.
