Sequim’s fastpitch squad made quick work of the visiting Port Townsend Redskins on March 26, scoring 15 runs in the first two innings and cruising to a 23-1 victory in the teams’ Olympic League opener.
Alexas Besand, Jordan Bentz, Mary Lu Clift, Melissa Lewis and Alysen Montileus had two hits each in the 16-hit barrage.
The Wolves also took advantage of the Redskins’ wildness, drawing seven walks and earning 10 unearned runs off of seven P.T. errors.
Jordan Bentz, Clift and Emily Copeland had triples while Kaylee Gumm and Shelby Lott had one double each.
Makayla Bentz earned the easy win on the mound, striking out four in two hitless innings. Olivia Kirsch pitched three innings, giving up one earned run and two hits while striking out four.
On March 22, the Wolves (3-1) earned a split of games against two quality opponents in Anacortes, topping Lynden 7-1 before falling to the host Anacortes Seahawks, 8-4.
Makayla Bentz posted the win on the mound, giving up just five hits and one run in the first inning. Up 2-1 headed into the fifth inning, Sequim’s offense exploded for five runs. The Wolves finished with 11 hits.
Sequim was slated to host Anacortes on March 24.
The Wolves are at North Kitsap on March 26 and at Klahowya (Silverdale) on March 28, their final game before spring break.
