Bridge closed today

With holiday travel ramping up next week, test openings on the Hood Canal bridge temporarily are ramping down.

Only one daytime ballast opening is scheduled between now and after Christmas: a 40-minute opening that begins at 9 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Nighttime work also is canceled through Christmas week. This work – which requires 90-minute bridge closures from 10 p.m.-4 a.m. – is scheduled to resume Monday, Dec. 28.

Bridge openings for marine vessels still will occur as needed. Drivers should plan ahead and anticipate heavy holiday traffic going to and from the Olympic Peninsula.
