Cross Country: Sequim’s Huff earns Coach of Year honors

A league championship, a district title and the best finish in program history.

Now Sequim head coach Harold Huff can add Coach of the Year honors.

Huff was named the top boys coach for the Olympic league at the league’s last week’s end-of-season cross country meeting in Bremerton.

Sequim’s boys squad went 8-0 in league meets and dominated at the league final on Oct. 24, then edged Lindbergh for the West Central District championship on Nov. 2. The team placed fifth at the state 2A meet in Pasco on Nov. 9, the boys’ first ever top-five finish.

Cheryl Gerardi of Port Angeles was named the Olympic League’s Coach of the Year for girls cross country. The league’s sportsmanship award went to Kingston.
