Tsunami triggers quirky current at Port Angeles Boat Haven

Tsunami advisory still in effect

The marina in Port Angeles is showing signs of the effects of the tsunami triggered by that earthquake off Japan.

Port Angeles Boat Haven Harbormaster Chuck Faires tells KONP the water in the marina is dropping 52 inches every 12 minutes and then flowing back into the marina at about the same rate.

He says the process has picked up since about 10:30 this morning.

Faires likened it to a fast tide change and says there has been no damage to the boats or marina facilities.
