The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society will close its animal adoption areas Aug. 1-8 for a staff in-service.
Staff will clean, paint and repair the 56-year-old society’s building.
The shelter will continue to take in animals, return phone calls and allow adoption of animals to those interested in kittens or a specific dog or cat.
During the closure, those wanting to adopt an animal should call 457-8206 to schedule a meeting.

The shelter will reopen at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9.
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society, a private nonprofit, has served Clallam County since 1947, caring for animals of all types. About 2,000 animals a year come through its facility.
