Sequim residents Jerry and Alanna Levesque raised $1,500 for U.S. Navy veterans struggling with medical and general expenses by auctioning their Seabee quilt in late June.
Jerry, an auctioneer, ran the benefit at the Seabee West Coast Reunion in California. A man from Walla Walla won.
Alanna worked three weeks piecing the quilt and 40 hours stitching it together.
Jerry was a U.S. Navy Seabee – construction battalion worker – for three years during the Vietnam War.
He said they were all smiles, from ear-to-ear, about how much the quilt went for at auction.
