Sequim Arts will present its 2011 Juried Show and Sale through May 28.
This year, the Sequim Museum & Arts Center in the Dungeness Valley has agreed to host the show at its Exhibit Building at 175 W. Cedar St. Show hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday. The juried show is an official event of the Sequim Irrigation Festival.
Juror Mike McCollum chose 84 of the 386 pieces of artwork entered from all over the United States to be on display for this year’s show. Artwork includes watercolor, mixed media, oil, acrylic, collage, pottery, prints, metal, photography and other media.
All artwork entered is original, was created within the past two years and will be for sale. More than $1,500 in cash and prizes will be awarded.
An awards reception is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 6. During the reception, Sequim Arts will have a silent auction with items donated from local businesses and artists. Bids will be taken on the silent auction until the end of the reception at 8 p.m. Funds raised support various Sequim Arts projects.
Each year, Sequim Arts sponsors a students’ exhibit, assists with the Sequim High School’s art program and hosts a members’ exhibit. The group also awards annual scholarships to graduating seniors who are interested in pursuing art as a career.
