Dinner opens Harvest Week

Clallam County’s annual Harvest Celebration Week starts with the 100-Mile Harvest Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Guy Cole Convention Center, Carrie Blake Park, Sequim.

This completely locally grown gourmet meal is a fundraiser for Friends of the Fields’ farmland protection efforts. Enjoy the live piano music of Linda Dowdell, a silent auction and the artistic creations from 40 local young people who participated in "Art on a Farm" this summer.

The documentary "Food, Inc." will be shown at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the Peninsula College Little Theater. "Food Inc.," Robert Kenner’s feature-length documentary, features interviews with such experts as Eric Schlosser ("Fast Food Nation"), Michael Pollan ("The Omnivore’s Dilemma," "In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto") along with social entrepreneurs such as Stonyfield’s Gary Hirshberg and Polyface Farms’ Joel Salatin.

Admission costs $5, $2.50 for students and seniors, at the door.
