Commercial driver’s license training set for September

Peninsula College sources

Starting Sept. 10, you can pave your way to a secure future through Peninsula College’s Commercial Driver’s License training in Forks and also receive job placement assistance.

Three separate tracks are being offered at the college’s Forks Extension Site at 71 S. Forks Ave. They are CDL A (tractor/trailer), CDL B (Bus Endorsement) and CDL A & B (A and B bundled).

The course includes one week of classroom instruction and three weeks of driving. During the final three weeks, students drive in a controlled environment (yard) and learn the basics of inspecting a commercial vehicle.

As shifting abilities progress in the controlled environment, students move on to road driving and additional road challenges.

Tuition and fees for the class are $5,700 for Class A; $4,050 for Class B; and $7,300 for Class A & B bundled.

The fees cover all costs associated with drug testing, a Department of Transportation physical, books and supplies, driving permit, licensing fee and other miscellaneous expenses.

Students are responsible for retesting and a Hazmat certification fee. The drug testing and physical must be done prior to being admitted into class.

Worker retraining grants may be available to qualifying students.

Eligibility requirements can be found at pc.ctc.edu/academics/workerretrainingform.asp#.
