The Seattle Foundation has announced $250,000 in grants to Clallam County nonprofit organizations.
The Benjamin N. Phillips Fund, founded in 2006 through the estate of Joy Phillips in memory of her late husband, is providing 23 grants from $1,000-$25,000 to benefit the community.
This is the third year of grants made by fund, bringing the total given to Clallam County organizations to $750,000. Clallam County nonprofit organizations meeting eligibility criteria apply once a year in late spring. For more information, see www.seattlefoundation.org.
Grants made this year are to:
_ Port Angeles Fine Arts Center: to provide general support, the first of two annual challenge grants – $10,000
_ Clallam-Jefferson Pro Bono Lawyers: to support the operations of the pro bono community office – $5,000
_ Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County: to support the infrastructure development of the Maloney Heights project in Port Angeles – $25,000
_ Serenity House of Clallam County: to support the Mint Hygiene Center program – $8,000
Voices for Veterans: to provide support for "Stand Down" events – $3,000
_ Clallam County YMCA: to provide general support – $5,500
__Dungeness Valley Health & Wellness Clinic: to support the diabetes education for disease prevention program – $7,500
_ Family Planning of Clallam County: to provide medical and educational reproductive health services in Forks – $15,000
_ First Step Family Support Center: to support the Maternity Support Services and Infant Case Management programs – $10,000
_ Healthy Families of Clallam County: to provide general program support and improve collaboration and coordination with other care providers – $25,000
_ Parenting Matters Foundation: to provide general operating support to serve families with young children – $25,000
_ Peninsula Friends of Animals: to provide general program support – $5,000
_ St. Andrew’s Place Assisted Living Community: to provide general support – $5,000
_ Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics: to provide general operating support – $7,500
_ Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula: to provide support for the dedicated teen center and its staff to provide evening programs – $10,000
_ Crescent Booster/PTO: to support the Volleyball: Courting Victory for Youth program – $5,000
_ First Book – Clallam County: to improve local literacy programs for low-income children by purchasing new books for them to keep – $1,000
_ Girls Scouts of Western Washington: to provide financial assistance for low-income girls from Clallam County – $5,000
_ Olympic Park Institute: to support the North Olympic Watershed Science program – $10,000
_ Port Angeles Education Foundation: to support the Special Needs Committee – $5,000
_ Dungeness River Audubon Center: to provide general operating support – $7,000
_ Feiro Marine Life Center: to support the organization’s capacity-building efforts – $15,000
_ North Olympic Land Trust: to support capacity building efforts, the final installment of a two-year grant – $15,000
_ Olympic Community Action Programs: to support the Encore! program for those suffering from memory loss and dementia – $5,000
_ United Way of Clallam County: to support the transition to a Community Solutions United Way model – $15,000.
