Patsene Dashiell, the Sequim School District’s Director of Communications, recently received honors for three entries in the Washington School Public Relations Association’s 2014-2015 Media and Publication Awards competition.
WSPRA is a professional organization that works to promote communication in public school districts across Washington.
In the category of Photography, Dashiell received an award of merit for “New Buses,” a photograph of six new buses just delivered to the district. The photo shoot took a certain amount of coordination among several people: district transportation supervisor Jeff Gossage coordinated the buses and bus drivers; bus drivers featured in the photo were Burton Karapostoles, Mike Williams, Tom Kelly, Frank Shimek, Robin Fling and Heather McCarter; district business manager Brian Lewis gave artistic direction for the photo shoot, and maintenance staffers Jeremy Copeland, Joe Gordon and Randy Marihugh operated the elevated lift.
“We wanted to express thanks to our community for their support in passing the 2013 one-year transportation vehicle levy,” Dashiell said.
In the same category, Dashiell received an honorable mention for “Morrison’s Science Classroom,” a photograph of two middle school students engaged in a science lab in Isabelle Morrison’s classroom.
She also received an honorable mention for the November 2014 and February 2015 editions of the employee newsletter in the category of “E-Newsletter — Internal or External.”
