With their biggest challenges on the horizon, Sequim’s swimmers are taking care of business now.
The Wolves (2-0 in Olympic League, 3-0 overall) won eight of 11 events in a 109-58 win against Klahowya Sept. 25, getting five district meet-qualifying swims.
Gianna Vennetti posted strong swims, earning first place and a ticket to districts in shortest (50 meter) and longest (500 meter) races, plus helping the 200 free relay team with a top time. Vennetti’s time in the 500 free (6:26.9) was 16 better than her previous best.
Rachel Hardy also took first in a pair of swims, winning the 200 IM in 2:55.7 and the 1:00 fly in 1:22.5.
"Many of the girls swam much better today and we saw such a great improvement since the first few weeks," Sequim coach Linda Bingler said.
Colsie Froerer won the 100 back in 1:26.5 and her third-place swim in the 50 free was a district meet-qualifying swim.
Louis Showers won the 200 free in 2:40.1.
The Wolves are back in the pool Oct. 2 at Port Townsend, then host the Port Angeles Roughriders on Oct. 9.
