Forty-one Sequim youths are lucky recipients of one-month passes to the Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center, thanks to a monthlong fundraiser orchestrated by Domino’s owner Chris Farmer.

Throughout May, Farmer had his employees ask customers to add $1 to the cost of their pizzas to support passes for low-income youth — and more than 850 did — with Farmer kicking in another $50 or so for an even $900. SARC visitors added another $155 for a grand total of $1,055. SARC board chairman Susan Sorensen and interim director Leslee Francis accepted the check from Farmer.

“I’d like to make this an annual thing,” Farmer said. “It’s been a perfect partnership.”

Domino’s received a thank you note from pass recipients.

Patsene Dashiell, director of communications for the Sequim School District, said teachers recommended 80 students between ages 8-17 for the free passes.

Although the Domino’s fundraiser is over, another $1,025 is needed to cover passes for the rest of the youths. Sponsorship of a one-month youth pass is only $26.17, said Francis, and is tax-deductible.
