The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a telephone scam that has resurfaced in the Sequim area. The caller identifies himself as a Clallam County law enforcement officer and informs the resident that he or she failed to report for jury duty.

The caller tells the resident that there is a warrant for his or her arrest and attempts to gain the resident’s credit card information to pay the fine and attempts to schedule a meeting with a fictitious Prosecutor at the Clallam County Courthouse. The resident is told that once he or she meets with the Prosecutor’s Office the fine will be reimbursed back.

The Sheriff’s Office advises its citizens to hang up immediately if they get one of these unsolicited phone calls and not to provide any sensitive information to the caller.
