Sequim’s boys were looking for a little redemption while the girls were looking for an easy win.

Both left Gold Mountain Golf Course satisfied.

The Wolves swept an Olympic League match with Klahowya March 26, with the boys topping the Eagles 56-29 and the girls even more dominant, winning 89-33.

Two-time state qualifier Zoei Zbarashuck outscored Klahowya on her own, scoring 35 Stableford points.

Sophomore Kim Duce was runner-up medalist with 23 points while freshman Hailey Estes added 15.

Becca Heyser (16 points ) and Megan Hamilton paced Klahowya, the only two Eagle golfers to score more than one point.

On the boys’ side, senior Brendon Gilles led the Wolves’ charge with a round of 41 through nine holes, good for 13 Stableford points. Freshman Ryan O’Mera had 12 points while teammates Colby Rude and Steve Loerlein chipped in with 11 points each. Sean Lindstedt shot a 45 for nine points.

The win helped Sequim rebound from a 69-41 home loss to Olympic two days earlier.

O’Mera and Rude each shot rounds of 41 for 13 Stableford points but the Trojans had four golfers – Corry Campbell, Scott Lutz, Sean Moore and Tyler Stafford – shoot rounds of 40 for 14 Stableford points.

"As I predicted, I think they’re the strongest in our (league)," coach Vic Quinet said. "They are so consistent."

The Olympic win gives the Trojans an inside edge on the Olympic League title.

Sequim’s boys and girls join the league in a respite during spring break, then take on host North Kitsap April 9. The girls take on Port Angeles in Sequim on April 14.
