Women’s basketball: PC crushes Edmonds in conference opener

No. 5-ranked Peninsula got double figures from five players in an easy, 82-33 road win at Edmonds on Jan. 9 to open their 2015-2016 conference season.

No. 5-ranked Peninsula got double figures from five players in an easy, 82-33 road win at Edmonds on Jan. 9 to open their 2015-2016 conference season.

Cherish Moss scored a game-high 17 points, Anaya Rodisha scored 12 and Imani Smith added 11 in the Peninsula victory.

Zhara Laster and Alicia Dugan added 10 points apiece, as the Pirates (1-0 in conference, 10-4 overall) held a 34-19 halftime lead against the host Tritons.

Asiyah Davis led Edmonds with 13 points, but PC overpowered the Tritons in nearly each aspect of the game, from rebounds (49-31) to second-chance points (15-0) to points off of turnovers (33-11).

PC held Edmonds to just nine-of-47 (19 percent) shooting and forced 29 Triton turnovers.


Looking ahead

Peninsula hosts the Whatcom Orcas (0-1, 0-12) on Jan. 13 and Everett’s Trojans (1-0, 8-7) on Jan. 16. PC hits the road for a matchup with Olympic College (0-1, 5-8) in Bremerton on Jan. 20.
