From learning about mountain biking to kayaking to making simple outdoor repairs around the house, Peninsula College has a variety of Community Education programs slated for this summer.

Mountain Bike Basics is a one-day course, meet from 1:30-5:30 p.m. on July 8. Discover how to get started, repair basic fixes in the field, gear for the terrain and about proper braking techniques, basic handling skills and trail etiquette. Individuals must be at least 13 years of age to enroll; youths under 18 must be accompanied by an adult/guardian. The $90 fee includes rental of bikes and equipment. The class meets at Adventure Through Kayaking, 2358 Highway 101, Port Angeles. Adventures Through Kayaking provides all equipment. For more information, call 417-3015.

To learn how to make simple outdoor home repairs, check out the Outdoor Tool School set for 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22. The course meets in the Composites Lab at the Lincoln Center Tech Building, 906 W. Ninth St. in Port Angeles and is taught by Cynthia Warne. The class is designed for both women and men who want to learn beginning level do-it-yourself outdoor repairs, including push mower repair, replacing a window/door screen and repairing a garden hose. The course is being offered in partnership with Hartnagel Building Supply and costs $25.50.
