Nearly 200 attendees enjoyed dinner and a celebration of 35 years of Feiro Marine Life Center’s community impact on Friday, Feb. 5, at the center’s eighth Fish on the Fence Gala.
Elliott Soelter, a senior at Port Angeles High School, was presented with the first annual Feiro Family Scholarship Award. This $500 scholarship supports Clallam County students in their pursuit of a trade or higher education. Soelter plans to study engineering in order to improve the energy infrastructure and reduce its impact on oceans.
The evening’s featured speaker was Dr. Michael Bogan, a graduate of Port Angeles High School and Peninsula College.
“We were very pleased with this year’s turnout, our largest to date, with diverse representation from across the community. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our sponsors and attendees for continuing to support youth marine science education in our community,” Feiro Executive Director Melissa Williams said.
