Photographers interested in one of Peninsula College’s continuing education photography classes in Sequim have a last chance. Budget cuts force discontinuation of the classes summer quarter, but two are available this spring:

• “How to Create Great Photographs” meets from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 11, and continues for five weeks, with a Saturday “field” workshop at John Wayne Marina. Cost of the class is $92. Instructor Randall Tomaras has more than 40 years’ experience as a professional photographer.

• “The Qualities of Light” meets from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 6, and continues for two weeks.

The class covers recognizing and controlling the qualities of light, outdoors or in the studio. Tomaras explains how photographers start with the qualities of light to create elements of art, form principles of art, create emotion and motivate action. Cost of the class is $49.

Improving nature photography

Award-winning wildlife photographers Stephen Cunliff and Hal Everett teach beginning and advanced photographers how to improve nature photography from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 8-9. The cost is $40 per person. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Northwest Raptor Center in Sequim. The workshop includes classroom and field time and covers camera functions and lens options to improve composition and exposure and consistently take quality images. Up to four images in print or electronic form will be analyzed for each participant.
