Peninsula College invites all in the community to honor veterans with several events on Thursday, Nov. 10.
A Studium Generale presentation, entitled “Veteran Stories of Triumph” will feature PC’s own veterans discussing how they overcame obstacles and found success in life, from 12:35-1:25 p.m. in the college’s Little Theater.
Immediately following the Studium presentation at 1:45 p.m. is an American flag retirement ceremony at the flag pole outside the Pirate Union Building. Peninsula College staff will honor the existing American flag and fly a new one.
At 7 p.m. in the Little Theater, PC’s Magic of Cinema will offer a screening of “Healing the Warrior’s Heart,” a documentary that explores post-traumatic stress disorder thorough the lens of Native American culture and how tribal groups have helped veterans transition back into society and manage their wartime experiences.
Veterans and those who wish to honor a special veteran are invited to share a photo as part of an interactive collage in the PUB, Nov. 7-14. The collage will be located next to the coffee window in the PUB for students and community members to add to and view. For more information about the collage, visit http://pencol.edu/events/veterans-day-collage.
Events are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Hayley Anderson at handerson@pencol.edu.
