Olympic Theatre Arts’ volunteers win Diced cooking challenge

The first Sequim Celebrity Diced Live, a parody of the TV show "Chopped," was a hit and raised more than $2,500 for one lucky local nonprofit.

The first Sequim Celebrity Diced Live, a parody of the TV show “Chopped,” was a hit and raised more than $2,500 for one lucky local nonprofit.

Gary Ash and Earl Wilson won $2,641 for Olympic Theatre Arts in the sold-out cooking competition on Oct. 1 in the Sequim Boys & Girls Club.

Competitors were given random baskets of food to create an entree, main course and a dessert for judges to determine who wins proceeds from the event. Teams included Joe and Tawana Borden playing for Captain Joseph House Foundation, Jim Stoffer and Brandino Gibson for Citizens for Sequim Schools, Rick Larsen and Randy Kellas for Healthy Families for Clallam County, and Ash and Wilson for OTA.

Each runner-up received a $150 consolation prize for their charity.
