Please vote ”YES” for our Sequim School District construction bond today. The bond will pay for new schools and much needed building improvements in our school district.
We desperately need these facilities. Both interest rates and construction costs are lower now than they will be in the foreseeable futures so it is important to pass this bond now. The timing could not be better.
It is essential that we rebuild and update Sequim High School. We also must renovate and upgrade Greywolf Elementary School and the Helen Haller School facility. We need to relocate a new elementary school to keep pace with the community’s projected growth. Sequim Middle School needs roof repairs.
Transportation and athletic facilities require upgrading and repair, and student programs previously housed in the dilapidated old Community School are critically in need of new space.
In 2008 and 2013, the school district’s two independent citizens’ investigatory committees both recommended most of the same renovation, repair and construction needs for our school properties. It was just not feasible to take on those projects at the beginning of the recession in 2008, but it is now.
Interest rates are lower and the cost of construction will be less expensive now than in the future. Our school children and community economy will both benefit greatly when we pass this School District Construction Bond issue.
Please join with me and vote “yes” for our Sequim Schools today! Our children truly are our most important resource. They are our future, so let’s stand by them for theirs! The timing couldn’t be better!
