Rain only could delay another Pirate "international" win.

Peninsula broke a scoreless first-half tie by finding the next four times in a 26-minute span to beat the Villa Football Club 4-0 in the Pirates’ second game on their Ireland trip.

A match with a club from Waterford was canceled thanks to a heavy rain that made Waterford’s home field unplayable.

Following a scoreless first half, Peninsula keeper Jase Hall booted it deep downfield where Brent Ricigliano retrieved it and produced the game’s first score at the 55-minute mark.

Connor Taylor scored a goal two minutes later off a feed from sophomore John Troka.

Troka netted a score for himself at 67 minutes off a 30-yard free kick.

Taylor netted his second goal to end the scoring when he took a feed from Bobby Catania and scored at 81 minutes.

It was the first action of the season for Taylor, a freshman midfielder from Anchorage, Alaska, after he injured a foot prior to tryouts.

The Pirates out-shot Villa Football Club 19-2, giving Hall an easy shutout.

"The first half we did not look very good but in the second we started knocking the ball around and looked much better," said Peninsula coach Andrew Chapman.

Results of the Pirates’ games Sept. 4 versus the Carlow Football Club and Sept. 5 against Trinity University in Dublin were not available at press time.

Peninsula’s first NWAACC opponent, the Columbia Basin Hawks, visit Port Angeles today, Sept. 9. The Hawks severely revamped their roster as they boast just four sophomores, giving second-year coach Kyle Vierck a comparatively inexperienced team.

The Pirates then travel to take on Treasure Valley’s Chukars in Ontario, Ore., on Sept. 12 before returning home to play Edmonds in a nonleague contest on Sept. 16.
