Live music, games and plenty of walks around the block highlighted the 10th annual Sequim Relay for Life on Aug. 8, at the Sequim Civic Center.

Teams stayed on the new course from Cedar Street to Washington Street between Sequim Avenue and Second Avenue through the 12-hour event.

Carla Madison, event chairman, said 14 teams raised more than $16,000 to support locals afflicted with cancer and their loved ones’ lodging, transportation and more during treatment.

Madison said they are looking to increase their donation total with 10 percent of each purchase at the Sequim IHOP, 1360 W. Washington St., from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, benefiting Relay for Life.

Her intent as chairman for the 2016 event is to raise at least $20,000 and host similar restaurant fundraisers every three months.

Next year’s event remains a 12-hour event on the second Saturday in August with a location to be determined.
