The First Federal Foundation made a big commitment to Sequim YMCA’s community campaign this week giving $25,000 toward the center’s $150,000 capital campaign goal.
Officials with the Sequim Y plan to operate in the former Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center at 610 N. Fifth Ave., beginning this fall. Funds go to building repairs such as pool pumps, wall repairs and new program equipment, along with membership assistance so as not to turn away those unable to pay, YMCA staff said.
Throughout the campaign, Sequim Y Advisory Board members will ask for donations. Donors will be honored on a wall in the facility. The Sequim Y will include a wellness center, swimming pool and house an Olympic Medical Center Rehab office.
For more information and/or to donate, contact Clallam County YMCA, 302 S. Francis St., Port Angeles, at 452-9244.
