James Dwayne Summerton, 55, of Sequim, Washington, passed away in his home on January 25, 2014 from a heart attack.
He was born in Sequim, Washington to Bill and Enamarie Summerton, on June 6, 1958.
Jim is survived by his parents, his brother, Larry Summerton, and sister-in-law, Sue Summerton, of Estacada, Oregon; and his sister, Darilee Brown, and brother-in-law, Brad Brown, of Bonney Lake, Washington.
Jim is also survived by his nephews, Brian Summerton, Ben Brown, Jessy Person and William Jack Brown; and his nieces, Melissa Summerton, Lindsay Summerton, Kimberly Brown Person, Amy Brown and Hannah Brown.
Jim also leaves behind his girlfriend, Kathleen Spradley. They met in 1994 and spent the last 20 years together until his death.
Jim loved his pets. He has 2 birds, Kimo and Pea- nut, a cat named Budward, and Doso the dog.
Kathleen will remember Jim’s smile and his charm. She is honored that he shared his life with her. Jim was an honest man, with a hard work ethic, who didn’t run from problems. He was a happy guy, who just wanted to carve time out for fishing where he could.
At least 14 years of Jim’s life was spent in the woods logging. He worked for Ken Huether Trucking and Eddie O’Dell Trucking. Jim had to leave the logging industry after he shattered his wrist participating in the Irrigation Logging show.
On July 30, 1990 he began his career at Sunland Golf and Country Club, working in the Golf Course Maintenance Department. James was just shy of 24 years with Sunland.
Jim’s passion was fishing. He loved going out to the Hoh and Sol Duc rivers. Whether he caught a fish or not, Jim always enjoyed being out on the water, with a fishing pole in his hand. He also loved to go camp- ing and just being outdoors. Jim also loved cars, really any vehicle with a motor in it. Jim was proud to be a member of the Outlaw Racing pit crew during the bump and pass races at the Port Angeles Speedway when it was open.
A celebration of life will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Sequim,Washington, on February 8, 2014, 3:00 p.m. The address is 30 Sanford Lane.
