Fire brigade to collect food, toys

For more than a century, fire companies have been known for their compassion and benevolence — and Clallam Fire District 3 is no exception during the upcoming holiday season.

In partnership with Scout Explorer Post 1003, the district again will send out the Santa’s Toy and Food Fire Brigade from 5-9 p.m. Dec. 6-8 to collect non-perishable food, toys and donations as they drive around Sequim on a decorated 1939 antique fire engine.

Santa and his helpers will be handing out candy canes as they collect donations. Donations go to the Sequim Food Bank and Sequim Community Aid.

Dates and locations are as follows:

• Tuesday, Dec. 6, downtown Sequim west of Sequim Avenue

• Wednesday, Dec. 7, downtown Sequim east of Sequim Avenue

• Thursday, Dec. 8, Emerald Highlands and Elk Creek Apartments

• Friday, Dec. 9, Make-up day due to weather cancellations
