The New Dungeness Light Station Association and Wind Rose Cellars announce their first ever photography and art contest. The winning submission will be featured on the label of the 2017 Wind Rose Cellars limited bottle release of Light Station Sauvignon Blanc for the benefit of the association, which has managed and maintained the 160 year-old New Dungeness Light Station with volunteer labor and donations since 1994.
Tom Sinton, president of the association, says he is thrilled that David Volmut, owner of Wind Rose Cellars, offered to work with the association on this fundraising project.
“We have major needs this summer including replacing roofs and painting the exterior of the keeper’s quarters. These projects, along with our long list of regular maintenance items, mean that this will be a big summer of work at the lighthouse,” Sinton said.
Volmut, who is donating 15 percent of all sales to the Light House, previously has partnered with the Olympic Land Trust and the Railroad Bridge restoration project special bottlings. “We love working with local nonprofits for the betterment of the community,” he said.
Each submission must be accompanied by a $10 entry fee that will be used to help offset the cost of printing the labels and bottling. If entry fees exceed the cost of labeling, the excess will go directly to Light House maintenance projects.
