The Feiro Marine Life Center’s ninth-annual “Fish on the Fence” gala is set for Saturday, Feb. 11, and it will have a distinctly local flavor from its guest speaker.
W. Ron Allen, CEO and Tribal Chair of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, will speak on “The Future of Feiro and Economic Development on the North Olympic Peninsula.”
As tribal chairman since 1977-present, Allen is responsible for representing the tribe as the elected leader and for addressing political and policy issues and/or positions at the national, state and local levels. As CEO since 1982, he also is responsible for the executive administration of the tribe’s programs, including education, career development, social services, housing, health, economic development, natural resource management and cultural/traditional affairs.
The Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and its partners recently committed to expanding the Dungeness River Audubon Center in order to provide greater learning opportunities to the community.
Also at the event, the second-annual Feiro Family Scholarship award will be announced.
Guests will be able to bid on live and silent auction items, including trips to Friday Harbor, Lake Sutherland, San Diego, Calif., and New Orleans, La., as well as fine art pieces from Clark Mundy and Ken Campbell. Last year’s event raised about $40,000 for learning experiences.
