Jerry Rettela, left, and Chuck Gagnon, right, of the Korean War Veterans Association #310 stand with Steve Ford, center, co-owner of Drennan & Ford Funeral Home and Crematory of Port Angeles, with the over 2,200 cards the firm collected through the funeral home’s seventh annual “Operation Valentine” program. The cards were created by students and teachers of nine Clallam County schools, a variety of Scouts, youth groups, churches, Elks Naval Lodge #353, businesses and local residents. The cards will be distributed by Rettela and Gagnon to Clallam County active duty personnel and veterans including the Coast Guard bases in Neah Bay, La Push, Port Angeles and Port Townsend, Sarge’s Place in Forks, Bremerton Naval Base in Bremerton, Retsil Veterans Home in Retsil, American Lake Veterans Hospital in Lakewood, Madigan Veterans Hospital and Warrior Transitional Battalion at Fort Lewis, Judsen Park Retirement Facility in Des Moines and the Northwest USO Facility at Sea-Tac Airport.
