Monday Musicale sets benefit concert

Monday Musicale presents its 2015 Fall Scholarship Benefit Concert, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave. in Port Angeles. Featured artists are Carlos Xavier, flautist, and Marlene Moore on cello, Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers, Dr. Deborah Rambo Sinn, pianist, and Eric Stolinder, marimba. Concert proceeds go to provide scholarships to local high school students who wish to continue their music studies. See a feature story in the Oct. 28 edition of the Sequim Gazette.

Children’s musician presents workshop

Jim Gill, a ationally renowned children’s musician, author, early childhood education expert and performer, visits the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, to offer a three-hour workshop for early childhood education providers, librarians and other adults who work with young children. Gill’s visit, which focuses on music play with purpose, is free but pre-registration is required. To register, visit www.nols.org and select “Events” and “Port Angeles” or e-mail jknight@nols.org.

Poet featured at PC presentation

Michael Spence drove public transit buses in the Seattle area for 30 years, writing poetry along the way. On Oct. 22, Spence shares some of his works from his fourth collection of poetry, “The Bus Driver’s Threnody,” during a Studium Generale presentation, a free event open to the public, from 12:35-1:25 p.m. in Peninsula College’s Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. Spence’s poems have appeared in The Hudson Review, The New Criterion, Shenandoah, Southwest Review and Tar River Poetry.
