Veteran Master Gardeners Barbara Heckard and Sally Tysver will share their years of experience and expertise harvesting and using herbs from their gardens at noon Thursday, July 9, in the county commissioner’s meeting room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles, for the Master Gardeners Green Thumb Garden Tips Brown Bag series.
Tysver, a 24-year veteran of Master Gardeners, will provide an account of the history of the use of herbs, including how they arrived in America, along with tips for planting, harvesting and drying them. Heckard, a Master Gardener since 2013, will discuss cultivating and cooking with fresh culinary herbs to enhance favorite recipes, focusing specifically on rosemary, oregano, sage, basil, thyme and chives.
This presentation will be repeated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at the Class Act at Woodcock Garden, 2711 Woodcock Road, Sequim.
The Green Thumb Garden Tips brown bag series is held from noon-1 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of every month in Port Angeles.
The Class Act at Woodcock Garden series is held on various Saturdays through the end of September. The presentations are free and open to the public. However, donations to help offset copying costs for handouts are accepted.
