Festival a reunion for Sequim nurse, former patient

Last weekend’s Irrigation Festival Grand Parade was a reunion of sorts for Lynn Fosket.

The Sequim nurse met up with Steve Ouellette, a former patient of hers at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma.

The two have know each other since he was diagnosed as a 13-year-old with a rare form of lymphoma — about 25 years ago. Ouellette says he was in the hospital for much of his sixth and seventh grades but was able to finish school after that.

Now he helps dad Ernie, president of Tacoma’s Daffodil Festival, during the parade/festival season. As per tradition, the Foskets — Lynn and Grand Marshal Vern Fosket — met up prior to the parade with the Ouellettes to share stories.

“We’ve kept in touch (and) we see each other each year,” Lynn said.
