On July 5, Sgt. Cassandra (Wendy) Peterson was promoted to Chief Corrections Deputy and Corrections Deputy Wes Miner was promoted to Corrections Sergeant.
Peterson was hired as an extra-help corrections officer in the Clallam County Correctional Facility in 1984. She worked as extra-help until 1989 when she was hired as a permanent corrections officer. In 2001, she was promoted to the rank of Corrections Sergeant and in 2016 she was assigned the task of getting the jail ready for WASPC Accreditation.
The Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs worked many years on developing an accreditation process for Washington state correctional facilities, and because of Peterson’s efforts the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office had a successful mock accreditation on June 30 with the final on-site accreditation expected the first week of August, sheriff’s office representatives said.
Miner was hired as a corrections officer in 2004 and has received several awards for his excellent work in the jail. He has contributed to the Sheriff’s Annual Report for the past several years, developing the corrections section into a very professional and thorough review for each year.
