With some local support, a group of students is looking to make a big impression across the globe.
Ten Student Ambassadors looking to earn funds for a cultural exchange with Shiso, Japan — Sequim’s sister city — are hosting a car wash from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 5-6 in the parking lot at JCPenney, 651 W. Washington St.
The event is an “Ultimate Car Wash,” organizers say, as youths are cleaning both interiors and exteriors of cars, and will host a bake sale, lemonade sale and a silent auction for car wash customers at the same time.
The ambassadors, chosen by the Sequim-Shiso Sister City Association, completed a service project at Carrie Blake Community Park on June 17, beautifying the garden at the City of Sequim’s Water Reuse Demonstration Site and the Friendship Garden off of Blake Avenue.
Student ambassadors include Aleah Chen, Coral Disinski, Erik Holtrop, Braden Koch, Fiona Macpherson, David Melcer, Chloe Morton, Kaleb Needoba, Katherine Tucker and Oscar Walchenbach.
