I-Fest wristbands on sale

Wristband tickets are on sale now for a day of fun at the Irrigation Festival Carnival. They are $20 and available at Sound Community Bank, KeyBank, Colors of Sequim and the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Each ticket entitles the bearer to one wristband good for a full day of rides during the carnival (May 8-11). Tickets are redeemable at the carnival where the wristbands are dispersed.

Seminar: Is my estate plan in a tangle?

Seats still are available to hear Sequim/Port Angeles attorney Jan Tierney present a free talk hosted by and held at the Dungeness River Audubon Center at 6 p.m. tomorrow, April 24.

Bunco party

The Sequim Guild Seattle Children’s Hospital is sponsoring a bunco afternoon at noon, Friday, April 25, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim. There will be a buffet luncheon and many silent auction items and door prizes.

School sponsors market

Five Acre School is sponsoring a Spring Kids Market and bake sale from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the school, 515 Lotzgesell Road, Sequim. Sale items will include children’s gently used clothing, toys, gear, furniture, shoes, books, classroom materials and other children’s items. Table rentals are still available for $10 by calling the school at 681-7255. Vendors can keep their proceeds. Proceeds from table rental go toward the tuition assistance and equipment for Five Acre School.

Conservative columnist speaks in Port Angeles

Michelle Malkin, a conservative nationally syndicated columnist and author, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Port Angeles Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave., Port Angeles. Free general admission, back stage passes available; sponsored by My Choices.

Bilingual story time at library

On Wednesday, April 30, the North Olympic Library System invites families of all ages to celebrate El día de los niños y los libros. The event is slated for 6:30 p.m. at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., with other times set for the Forks and Port Angeles branches. Call 683-1161.

Festivities feature a bilingual story time followed by music, food, games and crafts. Children who attend are given a free book.

El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), known as Día, is a celebration of children, families and reading.

Beginners class at CCGS

Clallam County Genealogical Society’s open house is from noon-4 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

An “I Know Nothing About Genealogy” class for beginners is scheduled from 1-3 p.m. All are welcome. The Research Center is at 402 E Lauridsen Blvd. Call 417-5000 for information. Office hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.

City seeks bands to audition

The City of Sequim is now accepting applications for bands to perform at the 2014 season of Music and Movies in the Park, held on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. from June 24-Aug. 26 at the James Center for the Performing Arts located at the Water Reuse Demonstration Park.

Bands are to submit a press kit that includes a written request to participate and a compact disk (CD) of the group that will perform.

Contact the city clerk at 681-3428 with questions and applications. The deadline to apply is May 9.

Annual plant sale

The Sequim Prairie Garden Club presents its annual plant sale from 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, April 26, at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St.

Annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees, fruits, tomato plants and vegetable starts will be available.

All proceeds go to maintain the park.

Yacht club open house

The Sequim Yacht and Sailing Club is hosting an open house from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, April 27.  Everyone is invited to enjoy free sailboat rides, boat tours and information about its junior sailing program. Meet at John Wayne Marina, 2577 West Sequim Bay Road, for activities, rides and refreshments. Meet the members and have fun for the whole family.

Kiwanis seeks donations

Donations are still being accepted for the annual Kiwanis Garage Sale, which will be held this year on May 3-4 at the Clallam County Fairgrounds in Port Angeles.

The three Port Angeles Kiwanis clubs, along with the Port Townsend Kiwanis, sponsor the annual sale to raise money for Camp Beausite Northwest. The organizing committee welcomes any donations of gently used items, including toys, adult and children’s clothing, books, housewares, hobby supplies, furniture and sports equipment.

To arrange a pickup for donations, call Dave Sue, 460-4336 or Tim Crowley, 457-5933, or contact Chuck Standley, 360-809-0731, in the evenings or on weekends. Donations also will be accepted in person at the fairgrounds from noon on Monday, April 28, through Wednesday, April 30.

NOLS is offering Gadget Lab one-on-one appointments.

Book a 15-minute appointment for one-on-one help downloading library e-books or audio books to your phone, tablet or other handheld device at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Jewelry fair at Medical   Services building

Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary presents a Masquerade Jewelry and Accessories Sale from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday-Friday, April 30-May 1 in the Olympic Medical Center/East Lobby.

All items are $5.

Proceeds benefit and are sponsored by Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary.

Equine dental clinic set

Jefferson County 4-H Horse Project is hosting an open equine dental clinic weekend with Dr. Richard Vetter of Performance Equine Dentistry. Vetter specializes in dental care for horses and will be at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds on Saturday-Sunday, May 3-4, examining and treating horses, ponies, donkeys and miniature horses.

Appointments are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

Senior Nutrition Menu set

Sequim Senior Nutrition Site menus are served at 4:30 p.m. at Suncrest Village Retirement Apartments, 251 S. Fifth Ave. Suggested donation is $5 (60 and over), $8 guest, and a 24-hour advance reservation is needed. RSVP to 683-8491. Menus are subject to change.
