Fall seasons are winding down for prep and college athletes alike. Here is a quick look at several Sequim High graduates competing at various colleges and universities across the nation:
Hannah Hudson
Former Sequim High athlete Hannah Hudson of Menlo College (Calif.) was recently selected to the All-Golden State Athletic Conference Volleyball team. She has been the team’s primary libero since transferring to Menlo from Olympic College in 2016. She won the conference defender of the week award twice this season and led the Oaks in digs with 475. She finished third best among all Oaks with 46 service aces. She is a 2014 Sequim High graduate and former track and field and volleyball standout.
Hilary Holtrop
Hilary Holtrop, a 2017 Sequim high graduate, is on the cheerleading team at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. In August, Pacific’s cheer team took first place for Timeout Routine, second place for Sideline Cheers, third place for Fight Song, the Most Improved Award and Grand Champs of Game Day Performance at a three-day college cheerleading camp in Spokane. When the team is stunting, Holtrop’s position is a “base.” While a student in Sequim, she danced and performed with Aspire Academy of Expressive Arts and Sequim Acrobatics and was a cheerleader at Sequim High School.
Miguel Moroles
A 2015 Sequim High grad and former all-Olympic League first team quarterback, Miguel Moroles now plays running back for the Bears at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. Moroles saw action in four games this fall for the 3-7 Bears, gaining 38 yards on six carries. He spent a year (2015-2016) studying at Washington State University in Pullman before transferring to the academy.
Sydney Balkan
The 2017 Sequim High grad is a setter for the Tacoma Community College Titans. While Tacoma stuggled this fall (1-32 overall), Balkan led the team in assists (208) and sets played (57). Balkan starred in volleyball while at Sequim High, as well as competing for the Sequim Equestrian Team.
Morgan Bingham
Southern Virginia University freshman Morgan Bingham, a 2017 Sequim High graduate, won the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Championship, earning CAC Rookie and Athlete of the Year and becoming the first conference champion in the university’s history. She is the only runner in the past two seasons to finish the 6,000-meter CAC Championship in under 23 minutes. Bingham transferred to Sequim in 2016, taking 34th overall at the state 2A cross country meet and qualifying for two state 2A track and field championship events (1,600 and 3,200).
Adrienne Haggerty
A three-sport star while at Sequim High — including league MVP winner in both basketball and volleyball her senior season — 2017 SHS graduate Adrienne Haggerty competes for the Highline Thunderbirds’ volleyball squad. This fall she was third on the team with 131 kills as an outside hitter. Highline went 22-21 and placed second in the West Region, qualifying for the NWAC tournament in Tacoma last week.
Megan Breckenridge
The sophomore libero/defensive specialist did a little bit of everything for the Evergreen State College volleyball squad. She was second on the team in digs (312) and chipped in with 32 kills and 24 assists. She also led the team in aces (26). The Geoducks went 10-18 this season.
Madelyn Potts
A freshman outside hitter/middle blocker for the South Puget Sound Volleyball squad, Madelyn Potts was fourth on the team in kills (99) and aces (17) as her team went 13-29 this fall.
