It is not too late for people to volunteer to help at Clallam County’s seventh annual Project Homeless Connect from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Port Angeles’ Vern Burton Center, 308 E. Fourth St.
“About 100 volunteers are needed on the day of the event,” said Bob Dunlap, who enrolls volunteers.
People can volunteer to work a shift or all day, with some starting at 7:30 a.m., and others helping set up the day before or coming to help close down at the end of the event.
New volunteers must register by Monday, Feb. 22, and attend a training session at either 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, or 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 1, at locations to be announced. Training is mandatory for first-time workers and optional for experienced Connect workers.
Homeless Connect is organized by Clallam County Homeless Outreach, an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit.
Resources range from free meals, clothing, haircuts and information to on-site assistance with housing, medical, dental, vision, legal, employment and social service needs.
