Junior Quinn Danielson came within about a dozen pins of a state tournament berth but wound up falling just short as she and teammate Porter Funston vied for one more week of postseason action at the West Central District tournament in Tacoma on Jan. 27.
Danielson posted a three-game series of 408 pins, with individual games of 131, 133 and 144. Foss senior Kathy Le took the final 1a/2A individual berth to state with a 421-pin series, followed by state alternates Marla Pulido of Clover Park (418) and North Mason’s Kailey Miller (416).
Funston, also a junior, bowled a 338-pin series, with her best of 114 coming in her final game.
A pair of Sequim’s Olympic League rivals, Klahowya and Olympic, placed first and second, respectively, and Franklin Pierce was third.
The top three teams and six individuals compete at the state tourney, set for Feb. 1-3 in University Place.
