City scholarship deadline looms

The deadline for submitting applications for the Association of Washington Cities Center for Quality Communities Scholarship Fund is Friday, Feb. 16.

The cities will award six $1,000 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors. To be eligible, a student must be graduating from a high school, home school or receiving a GED in spring-summer of 2018; and live in the Clallam County boundaries of the Sequim School District.

Also, a student must plan to continue their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in the 2018-19 academic year on a minimum half-time basis and currently be or have been involved with city government or with a community-school leadership activity.

Application materials can be obtained by visiting www.cfqc.org. Completed applications are to be submitted to city clerk Karen Kuznek-Reese via email at kkuznek@sequimwa.gov or in person at Sequim City Hall, 152 W. Cedar St., no later than Feb. 16.
