Clallam County Job Fair set for March 21

The Clallam County Annual Job Fair will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. The event features employment readiness workshops, resource agency information, a professional clothes closet, and actively hiring employers.

Many of the employers will also be available from 5-7 p.m. to meet with those who cannot attend during the work day.

More than 50 area employers will be available to talk with job seekers about their open positions and application process. Jobs include manufacturing, retail, education and hospitality positions to finance, health care, mechanics, construction and more.

There are hundreds of job openings for skilled and unskilled workers. Some employers offer training.

“People may be surprised to learn how many jobs are available in Clallam County,” said Marc Abshire, executive director of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce. “This event is the largest hiring event on the Peninsula, and it’s a great way to bring employers and job seekers together.”

Agencies will also be available to provide employment resources such as how to prepare for employment and how to overcome obstacles to employment.

Attendees may choose a free outfit from a professional clothes closet, hosted by First Federal and Morningside. Gently used clothing was donated by the public during a recent clothes drive.

Event details are available at www.portangles.org/ClallamJobFair and www.facebook.com/ClallamJobFair.

This event is sponsored by Clallam County, City of Port Angeles, Clallam County Economic Development Corporation, First Federal, Morningside, Olympic Medical Center, Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce, Washington State DSHS, WorkSource and Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe.
