The season isn’t over, but the Trojans certainly missed their chance to vie for the Olympic League title.

Sequim rebounded from a first-set loss to sweep aside Olympic at home on Oct. 11, winning 19-25, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-13.

Haleigh Harrison paced the Sequim offense with 17 kills and four blocks while Taylor Balkan added 39 assists and four aces. 

"We started the first game slow and then missed a bunch of serves," Sequim coach Jennie Webber Heilman said; the Wolves had 17 service errors.

"Our offense only had eight kills that (first) game, too. (In the) second game we served better."

Alexas Besand and Kate Harker had six kills each while Emma LeBlanc had a team-high 15 digs to lead the defense.

"Taylor did a great job of getting good sets out of poor passes," Webber Heilman said of Balkan, the senior setter.

Serafina Ma’ae led Olympic with seven kills, eight aces and 20 digs.

The win puts Sequim in the proverbial driver’s seat for the league championship as its remaining three opponents have a combined record of 7-25 heading into this week’s play.

The Wolves were scheduled to play at Port Townsend today, Oct. 16. Sequim hosts Bremerton on Oct. 18 and finishes the regular season Oct. 23 at Port Angeles.
