Security Services Northwest, Inc., based in Sequim, provided a special security detail for Chelsea Clinton last week for her book signing event in Seattle.
Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton and 2016 presidential candidate Hilary Clinton, attended a book signing event for her book “Start Now!: You Can Make a Difference” on Oct. 24 at the Elliot Bay Book Company in Seattle.
Joe D’Amico, Security Services Northwest Inc. (SSNW) president, was asked to provide a security detail for Clinton during the book signing event.
“We’re known in the Seattle area for providing great service,” Joe D’Amico said in a press release.
“We’ve handled music stars, sports stars, celebrities and political figures along with our regular work for all types of business and the Department of Defense.”
SSNW was contracted to provide the security detail with a team that included company personnel and off-duty law enforcement officers.
The same day Clinton was attending the Seattle event a potentially explosive device was mailed to her mother, former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton — one of at least 10 pipe-bomb type devices sent to public figures last week.
While the recent bomb threats led to another level of security attention for Chelsea Clinton during her visit to Seattle, SSNW officials reported in a press release that there were no disruptive incidents at the book signing.
SSNW officials stated in the press release that D’Amico received negative feedback on social media based on the Clinton family’s political history after posting a photo of himself with Chelsea after the book signing on the SSNW Facebook page.
“We don’t discriminate who does or does not receive security services with my company,” D’Amico said in a press release.
“We treat everyone equally. This is not about politics. Everyone deserves to be safe.”
