Veteran Master Gardener Jeanette Stehr-Green provides tips for selecting and caring for holiday gift plants at noon on Thursday, Nov. 8, in the county commissioners’ meeting room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Presenting “Christmas Flowers: Holiday Gifts that Keep on Giving,” Stehr-Green will talk about the most popular plants given as gifts to friends, family or oneself during the holiday season, including poinsettias, Christmas cactus, amaryllises and paperwhites.
She will provide instruction for selecting quality plants, nurturing them to keep gift plants beautiful through this holiday season, and providing long-term care so gift plants will be beautiful for many holidays to come.
Stehr-Green has been a Master Gardener since 2003 and was the 2012 Clallam County Master Gardener of the Year. She has purchased and grown all the plants that she will talk about in her presentation and has experimented with their propagation and different methods of getting these plants to bloom after the first year.
This presentation is part of the Clallam County Master Gardeners Green Thumb Garden Tips educational series.
There will be no Green Thumb Garden Tips presentation on Nov. 25 because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
