Small works make artful gifts at MAC

Holiday gifts of small sizes abound at the Sequim Arts Small Works Show & Sale that opened Nov. 30 at the Museum and Arts Exhibit Center, 175 W. Cedar St. in Sequim.

All of the artwork in the exhibit, co-sponsored by the Museum and Arts Center in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley (MAC) and Sequim Arts, is for sale and available for immediate pickup. An artists’ reception celebrating this show is from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at the MAC Exhibit Center.

The exhibit, which runs through Dec. 22, features artwork sized 8 inches by 10 inches or smaller and three-dimensional works that are no wider than 8 inches and no taller than 10 inches. The wide variety of media on display includes watercolor, oil, acrylic, pencil, pen and ink, pastel, collage, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, fine arts textiles and photography.

Patrons who buy these one-of-a-kind diminutive pieces have the option of taking their items at the time of purchase, or, if sending as gifts, having artwork mailed using USPS priority mail boxes for additional flat rate shipping fees.

“They make wonderful little holiday gifts for the hard-to-buy-for person,” MAC art exhibits coordinator Linda Stadtmiller said of the works that all are for sale. “I’d like to see the walls empty of artwork.”

A portion of the proceeds from this show and sale will benefit the MAC and Sequim Arts to help fund the many art-related activities of both organizations, including demonstrations, classes, exhibits and scholarships.
