The Peninsula Singers are preparing for their fall concert — but they could use a few more voices in their choir.

“We’ve had a few tenors leave us, unfortunately,” said Jerome Wright, Singers conductor and musical director in his fourth season with the group.

“Life happens and I wish them the best fortune, but now we need new members.”

The Singers are looking for at least three new tenors, with the primary condition being that they need to be able to read music and learn during rehearsals.

Wright said that the Singers are always accepting new members for any section, they just have a particular need for tenors at the moment.

“You never know who has moved into the area or don’t know about us yet who could join,” he added. “There’s such an incredible amount of talent in this area.”

Those interested in joining would be well advised to do so sooner than later, as the Peninsula Singers have their fall concert coming up in just a few weeks’ time, with performances at Trinity United Methodist Church on Nov. 23 and 24.

The Singers will be rehearsing every week until then, meeting at the church every Thursday at 7 p.m.

Wright, a native of Everett, came to Sequim and the Peninsula Singers after spending 28 years leading the Seattle Girls Choir, a group that won multiple international competitions in Europe.

Their accompanist, Linda Dowdell, frequently works at the Key City Public Theatre in Port Townsend, and was the pianist and musical director for “The Fantasticks” when it was performed at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall in 2014.
