An early-morning fire destroyed a trailer full of books and a nearby structure on the 257000 block of US Highway 101 on Thursday, Feb. 6.
First arriving crews at the scene located west of Sequim between Shore Road and Blue Mountain Road reported heavy fire showing from a travel trailer quickly spreading into the trees and adjacent structures, District 3 (Sequim) assistant chief Dan Orr said.
“The fire appears to have started in the front of the trailer, but it destroyed everything inside, Orr said in a press release. “The trailer was storage for the owner’s large book collection and was not occupied at the time of the fire.”
The trailer and an adjacent structure were a total loss, he said, with an estimated value of $30,000. The contents were also a total loss, with an estimated value of $10,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
